There’s an outbreak of measles in the United States, and New York City health officials have reported two cases in New York City.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are 58 total confirmed cases of the measles in the country across 17 different states – as many cases as there were for all of 2023.

The New York City Health Department says that the two cases that have emerged were directly related to international travel.

"The hallmarks of measles will be fever, rash... a runny nose. And something called, coplex spots, which is small little white spots that are sitting at the back of the throat or the mouth," said Dr. Alexander Arroyo of Maimonides Medical Center.
