A 14-year-old from Mastic Beach suffered multiple injuries in a hit-and-run crash she claims was not an accident.
Emma Quattrocchi says she suffered a concussion and multiple cuts and bruises to her face and body Sunday when she was struck by the car at an intersection in Shirley.
"It's crazy that he just left me on the side of the road, not even think what happened to me," Quattrocchi says.
The teenager believes the driver intentionally hit her. Quattrocchi says the driver stopped at the intersection of Maple Lane and Flintock Drive, let her friend Alexis Montanez cross the street and then accelerated as she crossed the street.
"It had to have seen Emma because was Emma was right behind me and it stopped for me," Montanez says. "So, why didn't it stay stopped while she went through?"
Quattrocchi says she has received several hateful messages on Snapchat following the crash from classmates who have been bullying her.
One wrote, "That expletive should've hit you again." Another said, "If I was behind the wheel, I would've made sure you died."
"I'm very hurt - I'm scared," Quattrocchi says.
Quattrocchi's mother, Kathleen Merchant, says her daughter's healing can begin when the hit-and-run driver is arrested.
"At least give Emma some closure that this guy is still not out there and he's not going to do it to her again," Merchant says.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call 911.
