Harry and Meghan weren't the only ones saying "I do" this weekend. While the royal wedding was underway across the pond, brides and grooms across Long Island were tying the knot for themselves.
Bride Deanna Kugler, of Massapequa, was among them. She met Bryan Gallucci, of East Meadow, in college. Gallucci says a few years later, he couldn't wait to pop the question.
"As the sun was setting, I just asked her, 'What are you doing for the rest of your life?' And I got down on one knee and I asked her," Gallucci recalls.
Cut to a few months later, when they realized they picked the same wedding date as Prince Harry and the new Duchess of Sussex. Actually, Gallucci says it's the other way around.
"They kind of stole our date, 'cause we had it first," he says.
Kugler says sharing the big day with the royal couple just builds the excitement. She woke up early on her wedding day to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot.
"I'm no princess or anything, but I'm hoping that I can just look as gorgeous and classic and timeless as she did this morning," she says.
Again, Gallucci says not so fast. "I'm sure Meghan's a lovely lady, but she doesn't hold a candle to Deanna," the groom says with a grin.
