Paws of War service dogs Storm and Tucker symbolically tied the knot Friday at the Smithtown Landing.

Their story began in the organization's service dog training classes. That's where handlers Michael Sweeney and Stefan Hespeler became friends.

They say the ceremony celebrates the unique bond between dogs and veterans.

"She's taken me out of bad places and I'm forever grateful, and I can't give back enough to Paws of War and to Storm for what they've done for me," Sweeney said.

Paws of War and Operation Vest co-planned the wedding.
