West Elementary School students in Long Beach are boosting spirits in the community on the one-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy through a class art project.

The Hangers for Hope project involves students placing handmade door hangers on homes throughout Long Beach. Each hanger features a personal message about how the community has fought back following Sandy.

Many students in Long Beach were displaced after the storm severely damaged schools in the area. West Elementary students have since returned to their building.
