A handwritten thank you letter from a 10-year-old made a big impact at Smithtown Town Hall, officials said.
Brock Murphy wrote the note to Town Supervisor Ed Wehrheim after playing on the town's new football field at Toner Park.
Brock is a quarterback for the St. James/Nesconset Bulls, a local team that never had its own field until the town opened the new turf a few weeks ago.
The Bulls christened the field with a game that came down to the final seconds, and Brock said the team won on a strip fumble.
That night, he wrote a seven-line letter saying how much the field meant to him. Wehrheim said the letter didn't just make his day, it made his week.
The note is now framed and hanging in town hall.
