This morning News 12 has learned the Great Neck School District's Superintendent Teresa Prendergast has passed away.
Prendergrast was set to retire next month.
The district made the announcement Sunday night.
Prendergast served as superintendent for eight years and was going to leave the district next month to serve as principal of Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead.
District officials praised her leadership through the pandemic.
She was 60 years old.
