New York state stadiums and arenas can reopen, under strict guidelines, later this month.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that beginning Feb. 23, arenas can reopen for events.
The governor said there will be a 10% capacity limit in arenas and stadiums that can seat more than 10,000 people.
That means Nassau Coliseum, which seats more than 13,000 people, will only be able to allow in 1,300 fans.
"Ten percent...I think they could do better than that. A lot of places are at 50% capacity," said Selden resident Allen Siegel.
Frank Borrelli, owner of Borrelli's Restaurant Cafe & Pizzeria down the street from the Nassau Coliseum, says he is afraid the Coliseum may decide to remain closed to fans instead.
"I can't survive on 10% business. We're not surviving now," he said.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says this is another step in the return to normalcy.
Attendees will need to have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the event.
Face coverings, social distancing and temperature checks will be required.
There will also be mandatory assigned and socially distanced seating.
The Barclays Center will reopen Feb. 23 for a Brooklyn Nets versus Sacramento game.
