Imagine how
many cookies are in 80,000 boxes from the Girl Scouts? That's how
many sweet treats the Girl Scouts of Nassau County are hoping to send to troops
overseas this year during "Operation Cookie."
The
partnership between the scouts and DHL Express has been going on for 18 years
and has resulted in hundreds of thousands of donations.
Rande
Bynum, the Nassau County Girl Scouts CEO, says it's "a
way of getting a little taste of home across the globe to our servicemen and
women."
Bynum says
the program was extended during the pandemic to include
local donations to "hometown heroes."
