The search for evidence in the Gilgo Beach murders has expanded into other states like South Carolina and Las Vegas while a heavy police presence remains outside the suspect's Massapequa home.

State troopers and Suffolk police are stationed at different spots in a four-block radius, directing traffic as investigators continue the process of going through the home of Rex Heuermann.

Agencies in other states have also joined the investigation. In Las Vegas, Heuermann and his wife purchased two timeshare condos there in 2003 and 2005 but sold the first one, according to property records. It's unclear if they still own that property.

Police in Vegas say they are reviewing their unsolved cases to see if the 59-year-old could have any connections to them. The same goes for the sheriff's office in Chester County, South Carolina.

Property tax records revealed that Heuermann owns property in Chester County, South Carolina. Investigators say they have been gathering evidence for the Gilgo Beach task force since before Heuermann's arrest.

Experts say officers don't want to miss anything that could tie him to cases he is currently charged in and any other crimes he could have been involved with.

Neighbors in Massapequa Park say although overwhelming, they understand why the massive police presence in their community continues.

Investigators have also been going through two storage units in Amityville that they say are connected to the case.
