Gilgo murders: Police likely to wrap investigation at Heuermann’s home next week

Chopper 12 was above his home where investigators combed through the backyard. Multiple sources confirmed to News 12 that investigators believe one or more of the Gilgo Beach murders happened there.

Police told News 12 that the Gilgo Beach murder investigation that has centered around the home of Rex Heuermann in Massapequa Park is likely to wrap up next week.
Heuermann has been charged with first- and second-degree murder in connection to three Gilgo victims: Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello. He pleaded not guilty this week and is due back in court Aug. 1.

The accused Gilgo Beach serial killer lived with his wife and two adult children at that home.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney has said that Heuermann's family was away at the time of the suspected murders. Heuermann’s wife filed for divorce on Wednesday.
