Palm trees are an unusual sight up north, but they're becoming more common for businesses looking to stand out and gardeners looking for a little paradise.
Go Palm Trees doesn't have a typical nursery space you can visit anytime of the year. Instead, the Long Island-based company - has several pop-up locations that occupy small lots across the tristate that they turn into a paradise filled with hundreds of palm trees for sale.
LOCATIONS:
  • 102 Lauman Lane Hicksville, NY 11801
  • 4373 Austin Boulevard Island Park, NY 11558
  • 557 Deer Park Avenue Dix Hills, NY 11746
  • 657 East Bay Avenue Manahawkin, NJ 08050
The palms are grown and raised from a small size at their farm in Homestead, Florida. Right from the start of their lives, these trees are destined to make a homeowner happy up north. Most of the smaller palms are 3-5 years old. On the farm are several years of inventory.
Go Palm Trees is one of several businesses that are bringing a taste of the tropics to our area. Owners George Drape and Ole Sandtorv started the business in 2020 and said after the first year, things really took off. They noticed people wanted to bring a tropical look to their backyards during the 2020 quarantine because they couldn't travel, but the surge in popularity continues.
The company has a successful Instagram account where they share the unusual palm tree varieties they offer for customers. If they don't have a palm species in stock, they can usually find it for their customers. This has earned them customers from outside of the tri-state area who make the trip to purchase these unusual plants.
