GameStop closing stores across New York City
Last month, GameStop announced a significant amount of stores would be closing, but didn't specify how many or exact locations.

Several GameStop stores in New York City are closing their doors this week as a wave of stores close across the country.
In Brooklyn, the Downtown Brooklyn location at 457-465 Fulton St., and the location in Bensonhurst at 6713 18th Avenue both have signs up indicating they are closing Jan. 8, although both stores do not appear to be open to the public.
Another location at 57-20 Myrtle Ave. in Ridgewood, Queens has a sign indicating it closed Monday.

News 12 also visited a location closing its doors in the Bronx and spoke to customers shopping at 1030 Westchester Ave.
An online list said to be compiled from emails sent to customers, and sightings of closing signs at stores shows hundreds of stores across the nation are shuttering this month.
"It's a little sad, but you know, everything evolves," said Jerry Joinvill, of Bed-Stuy.
Just as demand for Blockbuster faded in the wake of streaming services, so has the demand for brick and mortar game stores in the wake of online gaming and online shopping.
"It reminds me of toys r us back on 42nd street," said Alfred Sanchez, Lower East Side. "Seeing this close down is a reminder like maybe that era coming to a close."
