Family, friends and fellow firefighters bid farewell to a 35-year veteran firefighter from Nassau County.
Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department Commissioner Joseph Torregrossa was a dedicated family man and firefighter until the end, loved ones say.
Torregrossa’s casket was taken on the back of his department’s firetruck to St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Franklin Square, where his funeral was held.
The 60-year-old died last week due to a 9/11-related illness. He was part of the active search and recovery after the terrorist attacks.
Torregrossa leaves behind a wife and three children.
