The NYPD blocked off the roadway in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral Wednesday as thousands of people lined the streets once again for another fallen hero, Detective Wilbert Mora.
Police officers, family and friends watched as the body of Detective Mora was carried into St. Patrick's Cathedral. Among those in attendance was Mayor Eric Adams.
Mora was just 27 years old when he and his partner, 22-year-old Detective Jason Rivera who's funeral was last Friday, were shot and killed on Jan. 21 as they responded to a 911 call in Harlem.
Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell described Mora as a hero not only in life, but in death. He was an organ donor and because of that, the lives of five people were saved. People who knew him say he always had a smile
During the morning service, Mora was promoted posthumously to detective.
