The Best Buddies Friendship
Walk started Saturday in Massapequa Park.
The goal of the event is to raise support and awareness for those with
intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Participants could either walk at Marjorie Post Park or take part virtually.
Co-event chair Tara McWilliams says all the money and funding goes toward
building high school and jobs programs for those with intellectual and
developmental disabilities.
“It’s real, all in the name of inclusion,” McWilliams says.
The walk has raised more than $30,000 so far.
The organization was founded in 1989.
