Fourth felony DWI conviction could land repeat offender in jail for 7 years

A Salvadoran man could face up to seven years in prison after his fourth felony DWI conviction in 10 years.
Suffolk County prosecutors say 36-year-old Pablo Aguilar-Alvarez was found guilty on multiple charges related to a drunken driving arrest in Southampton.
Posecutors say that Aguilar-Alvarez drove drunk to a Southampton gas station with his girlfriend on Nov. 29, 2025 to get more alcohol. While inside the store, his girlfriend asked a clerk to call 911.
Police later found the vehicle based off the description and saw it run a stop sign and cross the double yellow line before conducting a traffic stop.
Prosecutors say Aguilar-Alvarez exited through the passenger-side door in an apparent attempt to make it seem he had not been driving. He failed field sobriety tests, and a breath test showed a blood alcohol content of .17%.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 2.
Prosecutors say Aguilar-Alvarez was previously convicted of DWI in 2022 and twice in 2017.
They also say he was deported from the U.S. in March 2024 following prior felony convictions and is currently illegally in the states.
