Former Suffolk County Legislator Wayne Prospect was a no-show for his bribery sentencing Thursday.Prospect?s attorney surprised the courtroom by announcing that Prospect was in the hospital due to a strain he received while being hauled into court earlier this week. Prospect was brought in for tax fraud charges, just days before he was scheduled to be sentenced for a bribery conviction. Suffolk County District Attorney Tom Spota called the situation "rather strange." He says under circumstances like these, the lawyer usually notifies the court and the district attorney?s office. The incident was resolved when the judge spoke with one of Prospect's doctors by phone. The doctor said Prospect should remain under his care for a while longer. Prospect faces five to 15 years in jail when he is sentenced for his bribery conviction on August 24.Related Information:
