A former NYPD officer and a woman were charged in connection with a deadly crash on 2024.

The state Attorney General’s Office said that prior to colliding in the early hours of May 11, 2024, both Stanley Cadet and Kayla Lopez were driving more than 100 mph on Union Boulevard in West Islip.

The two allegedly drove side by side for a half-mile in a single-lane roadway. When they collided, Anna Wilson, a passenger in Lopez’s vehicle, was ejected, prosecutors said.

At the time of the collision, the prosecutor said, Lopez had been going 108 mph and Cadet had been going 99.

The defendants pleaded not guilty. No monetary bail was set. A judge allowed both defendants out on supervised release.

Sean Dixon said that his client, Kayla Lopez, “hit a pothole and lost control of her vehicle,” adding that Cadet was driving at a high rate of speed, lost control and hit his client.

Cadet’s attorney declined to speak to reporters but in court said that his client had provided lifesaving measures on the victim.
