Food and fun served with a side of history, spend the day in the hamlet of Oyster Bay on this Road Trip: Close to Home.
Stroll down the charming streets and see historic houses in the hamlet famed as the former home of President Theodore Roosevelt.
Of course there's shopping, if you are a big Billy Joel fan, you can window shop at his 20th Century Cycles.
And you never know which famous residents you'll spot around town - including News 12 Long Island's own Carol Silva!
Oyster Bay is a dining destination. There are so many restaurants to try!
If you look up at the second floor of Wild Honey, that was Teddy Roosevelt's summer White House.
Bonanza Stand has been there for 123 years. They're famous for their hot dogs and Italian ices.
And if you are looking for a grown up frozen treat, stop at Coach Meeting House, home of the spiked slushie.
If it's a cold beer that you want, there's Oyster Bay Brewing Company - Islanders fans you'll love the Barn Rocker.
And just over a mile away is Youngs Memorial Cemetery, climb 26 steps to visit the grave site of the 26th president.
You have to be a town resident to go to the town beach, but if you want to spend the day on the water, anyone can if you make a reservation in advance at the Waterfront Center. The nonprofit organization offers kayak and paddle board rentals. You can even rent a sailboat or take a sailing lesson and enjoy the day on beautiful Oyster Bay.
