Florists say Mother’s Day is the most popular flower holiday, even beating out Valentine’s Day.
But costs have been going up for flowers and deliveries across Long Island.
At Baron Floral Designs in Sea Cliff, owner Dana Baron says she tries to be organized with her deliveries so drivers can save on gas. She also says tariffs have been up and down—impacting flower costs throughout the year.
“Even though my prices, or rather the costs, are going up, they're not going up significantly enough to me that I'm going to pass it on to my customers,” Baron said. “I would rather have my customers be happy, get a really full arrangement of beautiful flowers and come back.”
Baron says she’s been absorbing most of the costs so she doesn’t have to increase prices for her customers, and she has bouquets available for many different price points.
