A Flanders woman was killed in a hit-and-run incident Saturday afternoon, marking the second time this weekend a female victim died after being struck by a vehicle on Long Island.
Officials with the Southampton Town Police Department say they received calls about a woman who was hit on Route 24 near Cypress Avenue, but are still looking for witnesses who saw the vehicle that hit her.
Police describe the victim, who has not been identified, as a Hispanic woman in her 40s. Southampton police are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to call 631-728-3454.
The incident in Flanders follows a similar incident in Inwood in which Victoria Caudros was killed while saving her son from a speeding SUV. Nassau police are still searching for the driver of the sport utility vehicle.
