Emergency crews converged on a house fire in Smithtown Sunday afternoon as flames and heavy smoke poured from the windows.

Suffolk police said the call came in around 3:15 p.m. The fire closed Woodlawn Avenue at North Country Road and Fiore Court.

The St. James Fire Department was aided by seven other departments in its effort to quell the fire.

There was no official word on injuries or how the fire started.
