Firefighters were called to a vehicle fire around 9 a.m. Thursday on West Maple Avenue.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire on all three floors of the home.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire outside. During the search, they found a dog on the third floor and got them out safely.
The fire was under control in about 30 minutes, and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The fire was determined to be accidental and was caused by a golf cart that had been exposed to floodwater during this past weekend’s flooding. The golf cart was underneath the upper-level decks, allowing the fire to quickly spread up the outside of the home and into the structure.
Fire officials also issued a warning to residents to not use or charge any golf cart, e-bike or e-scooter that was exposed to floodwater.
