Fire engulfed a condo complex along the Long Beach boardwalk early Sunday morning.
Fire officials say half-a-dozen families were evacuated and it took more than 200 firefighters to put out the flames. The frigid temperatures and strong winds made it difficult for the firefighters. Officials say water was freezing on the bodies of the firefighters as they left the building.
One fireman was taken to the hospital for a wrist injury and several others were treated for hypothermia and smoke inhalation. Residents say they heard smoke alarms and evacuated the building. One resident says she lost everything in the fire, including her beloved pets.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
