Fire officials say at least four people are dead and at least nine are injured after a minivan crashed into a nail salon in Deer Park.
Suffolk fire officials say the call came in around 4:30 p.m. for 796 Grand Blvd., which is the location for Hawaii Nail & Spa.
The vehicle smashed through the front of the business and drove all the way to the back, slamming into people along the way.
Officials say they “immediately” identified it was a mass casualty incident when they arrived.
Several of the victims were trapped and had to be pulled to safety.
Assistant Deer Park Fire Chief Dominic Albanese said all those killed were inside the nail salon.
One of the injured victims had to be airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Officials say the driver of the vehicle survived. They say he was semi-conscious and taken to a hospital.
It is not clear what caused the minivan to go out of control.
None of the victims have been identified.
