In the rolling hills of Litchfield, there's a beautiful respite that is the perfect inspiration for gardeners, artists, and photographers. It might even be described as magical.
The Hollister House Garden in Washington, Connecticut, was started over 40 years ago by George Schoellkopf when he purchased the old Hollister Halstead on Nettleton Hollow Road. The garden was inspired by a trip Schoellkopf made to England in the late-70s where he saw the legendary English gardens such as Sissinghurst and Hidcote.
Hollister House Garden has been a public garden since 2005 and offers a full program of lectures, art workshops and special events.
The gardens are open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
