Hospital staff at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow were surprised with a "Field of Honor" Tuesday afternoon.
Family members and Long Islanders placed hundreds of flags outside the hospital.
Organizers say they wanted to give recognition to those risking their lives fighting the pandemic.
