The nation's top infectious disease expert is predicting
that teens could be eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of
this year.
“We project that high school
students will very likely be able to be vaccinated by the fall term, maybe not
the very first day, but certainly in the early part of the fall for that fall
educational term,” says Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Dr. Fauci
says tests are being done right now to make sure teens will be able to get
shots that are both safe and effective.
Fauci also
says he expects that vaccines for younger children could be ready in early
2022.
