A Jersey City man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Police were notified of a stabbing around 12:35 p.m. on Dwight Street near Bergen Avenue, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. Responding officers found an unresponsive man, later identified as Kareem Mack, 47, of Jersey City, with multiple apparent stab wounds.
Mack was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:10 p.m.
Authorities identified Kyshawn Foster, 26, of Jersey City, as a person of interest. He was later charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Foster was arrested on Jackson Street in Hoboken and is being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
Prosecutors said the incident is being investigated as an act of domestic violence.
