2h agoA man riding a scooter in West Babylon was fatally struck this morning on Sunrise Highway.
Police says the accident happened around 3:20 a.m. and closed down all the eastbound lanes between exits 39 and 40. According to police, Edward Marcuteanu was riding a Splach electric scooter in the middle eastbound lane when he was struck by a Honda Accord.
Marcuteanu, 43, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger in the vehicle were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Sunrise Highway was closed for the morning commute and fully reopened after 8 a.m.
