A Brooklyn family honored the life of a slain baby girl on what would have been her first birthday on Saturday.

Kaori Kristine Patterson Moore was just 7 months old when police say two men on a moped opened fire on Moore and Humboldt streets on April 1.

Police say Kaori was in a stroller with her then 2-year-old brother when she was fatally struck by a stray bullet. Her brother was also grazed in the back.

Kaori’s mother, Lianna Charles Moore, says her family is still trying to heal from the loss.

“It really hurts too much to face everything that happened,” Moore said.

Kaori’s family held the first annual Kaori Day basketball tournament and planned a balloon release on the same street where she was killed.

“She’s getting the birthday she would have deserved if she were to be here,” Moore said.

Police say 21-year-old Amari Green and 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez are accused of killing Kaori.

Both are awaiting trial.

Kaori’s family says they hope the men responsible are held accountable.

Community members are also pushing to rename Moore Street “Kaori Moore Street” to permanently honor the baby girl whose life was cut short.
