Families of 9/11 victims gathered at Central Islip court Wednesday to watch the sentencing of convicted conspirator Zaccarias Moussaoui on closed-circuit television.
A jury in Alexandria, Virginia sentenced Moussaoui to life in prison without the possibility for parole, despite the cry from many for a death sentence. Jury members say they could not come to a unanimous decision for death.
Many viewers say the system prevailed and Moussaoui got what he deserved, though many added they would have preferred the death penalty. All agree that jury members had a difficult decision. Most say they stand by the jury and are glad the sentence has been handed down.
