A single-engine plane crashed along the Wickham Lake shoreline in Warwick Wednesday.
Officials say the Mooney M20 went down near the intersection of State School Road and Kings Highway.
Warwick police say Andrew Bender took off from the Warwick Municipal Airport a little after 12 p.m. and crashed along the shoreline.
News 12 was told he was the only person on the plane, and he was conscious after the crash. Bender was taken to Garnett Hospital in Middletown, where officials there say he is in stable condition.
"At this time, I don't have a cause for the accident. The FAA is here doing the initial part of their investigation," says Warwick Police Department Lt. John Radar.
Radar says the FAA will be interviewing the pilot to find out what happened and also look at the airplane to see if there were any mechanical issues.
The lieutenant said he doesn't know if Bender made a mayday call.
