News 12 is keeping a close on the new Park and Ride lots and Long Island Rail Road stations as commuters endure the first day of the ‘Summer of Hell.’
About 200 express buses rolled out to get people in to work.
The MTA says it is hoping customers will utilize the slew of Park and Ride bus options that are now scattered across the region.
The locations include North Hempstead Beach Park, Belmont Racetrack, Valley Stream LIRR train station,  Roosevelt Field Shopping Mall, Nassau Coliseum, Bethpage State Park, and Melville. At the Seaford LIRR station, there is a ‘kiss and ride’ only.
