A former Babylon High School teacher who admitted to having sex with a student was sentenced to three years’ probation on Monday.
Timothy Harrison, 48, received no jail time as part of a plea deal.
The former Babylon High school teacher and coach’s plea revealed that in 2013, Harrison sent the victim, who was 15 years old at the time, flirtatious text messages, gave her alcohol and had sexual intercourse and oral sexual conduct with her at his home in Oak Beach.
Brittany Rohl, a graduate of Babylon High School, says she too was sexually abused by a former teacher and coach.
“For most survivors when you see how society and the justice system handles these things your expectations are pretty low,” Rohl said. She applauded the unnamed victim in this case for being persistent taking it as far as she did.
Harrison will also have computer monitoring but does not have to register as a sex offender as part of this plea. He is also required to surrender his teaching license.
