The mother of a slain daughter who was found raped and murdered exactly 20 years ago sat down Tuesday with News 12 to honor her memory.

Vinessa Hoera disappeared after working a shift at a Westhampton Beach fish market. The 23-year-old mother was raped and murdered – her body was found nearly two months after she disappeared.

Her mother, Donna Monti, shared memories of her middle child – one of three girls. She said she’ll always be thinking of her daughter, “every day, every minute.”

Monti described Hoera as a “great person” and said Hoera’s son, now an adult, is just like his mom.

“The laugh, the sense of humor, the personality, there it is,” she said.

Faustino Chavez, who admitted to killing Hoera, remains in prison. According to state records, he has a parole interview date in Nov. 2025 and his earliest release date is March 29, 2026.
