Picturesque paths and miles of scenic nature trails. On this
Road Trip: Close to Home, News 12's Elisa DiStefano visited Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve for the fall foliage!
The historic Lloyd Harbor preserve is 1,600 acres, with over 20 miles of trails. The most popular, is a 2.4 mile paved loop where it's easy to hike or bike. The trail will take you past the Beachtree field.
If you really want to get out in nature, go off the beaten path and walk over to the 50-acre field.
If you want a different perspective and view with vibrant colors walk to the top of the hill it's beautiful up there.
Even more contrasting colors are coming soon, the leaf peeping hasn't hit its peak there just yet.
And it's a 2 mile walk to the water to see the 90-acre salt water marsh.
If you are big on birding, the area is a hotspot for fall migratrion.
And if you want to walk some more - there's 2 1/4 miles of rocky shoreline along the Long Island Sound - you can see Stamford, Connecticut on a clear day.
After all of the walking it's nice to find a bench and just enjoy the gorgeous view.
