An Elmont man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after he admitted to strangling a woman and leaving her body next to a dumpster.
Police say it happened on Valentine's Day last year in South Hempstead.
Officials say 26-year-old Andrew Avila admitted to killing Rebecca Carlson after an argument over sex became violent, after they had met online and agreed to an in-person meeting.
Officials say her body was found hours later.
