Officials: 1 person dead in crash on Southern State Parkway in Islip

The parkway was shut down overnight near Exit 43 but has since reopened, police say.

Officials say one person was killed in a crash Tuesday night on the Southern State Parkway in Islip.
The crash shut down the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway around 10:27 p.m.
The parkway was shut down near Exit 43 but has since reopened, police say.
In video taken at the scene, a motorcycle is seen off to the side and a car is facing the wrong way on the road.
News 12 Long Island has learned the attorney general’s office is involved in the investigation.
