Police say one person has died following a crash early Monday on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville.

Police say 63-year-old Matthew Pawalk, of Riverhead, was heading east when he lost control of his car between exits 62 and 63 at around 2:30 a.m.

Pawalk hit the center median head-on and died at the scene.

All eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway were closed in Holtsville due to the crash but have since reopened.
