An East Patchogue teen is suing Brookhaven Town for $2 million and blaming the town’s landfill after she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

According to court documents, Sky Dodge, 19, was diagnosed last May.

Dodge attended fourth grade at Frank P. Long Intermediate School in Bellport from 2014 to 2016.

The suit blames her cancer on “the town’s failure to take reasonable steps to prevent the toxic and noxious substances and odors” from the landfill.

As News 12 has reported, the parents of another teen who died of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma sued the Town of Brookhaven and South County Central School District last year.

Their son attended the same school and they say his death could have been prevented if the district closed the school when others began getting sick.
