There are new efforts to encourage students to read while school is out.
The East Meadow School District hosted its first 'Pop-Up Library' outside the district office on Wednesday.
Hundreds of books were available - including some summer reading suggestions for kids in grades K-12.
A mom says this is a great way to get her kids away from a computer screen.
District officials say many of the books available were donated. They plan on hosting another pop-up library in a few weeks.
