A lot of Long Islanders use the Thanksgiving weekend to start decorating their homes for Christmas. And for many people, those decorations include poinsettias.
At Van Bourgondien there are three acres of greenhouses, and right now about two-thirds of them are filled with the traditional holiday flower that never seems to go out of style.
The planting process begins at a time when the holidays are farthest thing from people's minds -- in spring.
