Larry Welcome has been hooked on fishing since the age of six. Growing up in Long Beach, Larry would make fishing gear from household items.

In his teens he worked as a machinist, learning the skills he'd later use to make his surf casting plugs, also know as fishing lures at his shop in Cutchogue.

"In the late seventies, I was newly married, had just built a house, had a child on the way, working at Brookhaven lab, which was my career job at the time, and really could not afford to pay for the lures that I was losing so I chose a couple of lures reproduced them as best I could."

Larry makes a variety of lures for different purposes, each one by hand.
