They are toasting at Long Island Spirits, Long Island’s first distillery, because one of their products just won a big award.
Owner Rich Stabile says he saw something online about a major whiskey competition and searched to see if any of his products were chosen by the judges.
“They looked at over a thousand whiskeys from all over the world, narrowed it down to 50 and I was just praying that we actually be on that list. But then as I started going through the list I noticed we were number three and I was like really?! Then I looked at whiskeys that we were ahead of and I was just like....it was amazing,” says Stabile.
The top two whiskeys were both single malts from Scotland, so Field and Sound finished ahead of all the American made ones.
Long Island Spirits has won many accolades for the long line of products through the years -- from their vodka and gin to their bourbons and rye and their popular canned craft cocktails. All of those are served in their refurbished, historic tasting room.
The distillery has a newly redone outdoor patio area with a bar serving their own craft cocktails.
