East End: Fall-inspired ice cream flavors
It's October, the weather is cooler. But ice cream seems to always be in season.
Known for their stunning flowers and pick-your-own berries, Patty's Berries and Bunches
also has an array of ice creams made with locally grown ingredients. For fall, farmer Patty DiVello says there are a couple of offerings that'll remind you of Thanksgiving, like pumpkin pie and apple pie flavors. Another unique one - cantaloupe.
At nearby Magic Fountain
, they're known for their creative concoctions. Owner Choudry Ali uses produce from area farm stands to make blackberry chip and blackberry ginger.
At the Andrews Family Farm
in Wading River, they started selling ice cream for the first time this year, starting in spring with the strawberries they grow. They have ice cream with their apple cider donuts in it, an M&M caramel ice cream with local apples, and sweet potato ice cream.
