Tucked away on a side road in a small North Fork community, you'll find a place serving local wine and beer.
In this week's trip to the East End, our Doug Geed tells the story of Chronicle Wines.
Alie Shaper and Robin Epperson-McCarthy were co-workers at an East End winery who decided to collaborate over their passion for wine making.
"Chronicle Wines is our little collection of brands. And we are unusual in that we're a winery with two winemakers. You usually don't find that. And between us we produce five different brands," says Shaper.
Shaper has three brands of wine. They include reds, white, and even orange wines.
Together, they came up with a line of wine spritzers.
Their tasting room and retail shop is an historic building located in the tiny North Fork downtown of Peconic.
It's small, but guests enjoy the cozy feel.
"We want to take the pretentiousness out of wine. I would love to have a newbie come in here and teach them that wine doesn't have to be pretentious, that you drink what you like and the whole point of doing tastings is to find the wine that you want to take home and drink more of," says Epperson-McCarthy.
