High living costs are taking their toll on East End businesses and workers.
Many employees in the Hamptons say the costly and congested commute has forced them to rent in the area instead of traveling daily. Others have turned to carpooling to lower costs. Business owners say they are having a tough time attracting perspective employees from outside the area. Some say they have been looking for months.
Several business owners also say they can?t entice potential employees by offering more money because vendors are passing on high gas prices with increased delivery charges.
