Dangerously icy conditions made for a morning of spinouts and crashes Saturday on Long Island roads.
Cold temperatures overnight created patches of black ice that were blamed for dozens of accidents.
A six-vehicle accident shut down part of Nicolls Road in Centereach. News 12 was told there were no serious injuries. Parts of Sunrise Highway also had to be shut down because of icy conditions.
Officials say drivers should stay in their cars if they do get in an accident until help arrives.
Trucks on parkways were spreading salt to try to minimize the ice, but officials were still advising drivers to slow down.
Temperatures eventually warmed up to almost 50 degrees during the day. Sunday is expected to see some rain with mild temperatures.
